Phil and Evi’s fall Heart Lake elopement was one of those days that just felt easy (in the best way). Their story already spans continents, with Evi coming from the Netherlands and Phil from Canada, so choosing the Adirondacks as the place where they’d officially begin this next chapter felt like its own perfect middle ground.
A fun little backstory: we actually met Phil a year earlier while photographing another couple’s elopement. We chatted briefly on the trail, not knowing we’d cross paths again – but later he reached out to book his own elopement day. Full-circle moments like that never get old.
They kept things simple and meaningful, celebrating with their families right by the water. Their sweet bernedoodle trotted around like the unofficial guest of honor, and yes – their adventure van absolutely made the trip and felt right at home in the Adirondacks.
Afterward, we spent some time soaking up the fall colors around the lake and then hiked up for more photos, just taking the day as it came. No rush, no fuss – just a couple savoring the moment with the people (and pup!) who mean the world to them.
And honestly, this elopement was another reminder of why the Adirondacks are such an incredible destination for couples. Whether you’re coming from Europe, Canada, or anywhere else, this place always delivers – quiet trails, wild views, and space to create a day that feels personal and grounded.
It was such a joy spending the afternoon with these two and documenting a chapter of a love story that’s already traveled far and wide.
